From Intelligence for Humanity:
How do you make sense of your complex world?
Through a socioscape
Intelligence for Humanity (IfH) socioscapes offer insights into the ‘who is doing what, where and when’ of complex environments. A socioscape uses qualitative methods to show the interactions, relationships and linkages that exist between the actors, actions and artifacts at any given place and time, by combining social and information science research with innovation in visualization technologies.
By using approaches and tools that anyone can learn to use, Intelligence for Humanity is assisting Governments, NGO’s and International Agencies to make sense of the complex social context in which change is occurring. This is achieved by taking reports, documents, media items, blogs and other sources and extracting, sorting and classifying information according to the IfH AAAPT framework (a knowledge store for managing Actors, Actions and Artifacts in Place and Time).
IfH services fall into three key areas that can be combined and adapted to suit specific needs.
- Real-time monitoring and evaluation of complex situations and generation of information:
- filtering and extraction
- tagging and validation
- sorting and organizing
- visualization and reporting
- Sense-‐making services for new perspectives and deep insight:
- pattern recognition, artificial intelligence, hidden links
- socio-‐cultural analysis
- visual analytics and reporting
- thematic analysis and research
- Applied Insight services:
- policy development
- change and project management services
- thematic advisory services
- thematic workshop facilitation
