The branch of science that deals with celestial objects, space, and the physical universe as a whole.
“The most incomprehensible thing about the universe is that it is comprehensible.” – Brian Greene, author of The Elegant Universe
Thinking about the universe and trying to understand how it works can easily befuddle anyone. Its mere size is nearly incomprehensible and the fact that it is still expanding is even more perplexing. What caused the universe to suddenly expand? Why is there an enormous ball of energy fueling life on this planet and controlling the orbit of 8 planets (well, 9 if all the people born in the 80s or earlier want to count Pluto)? The next time you’re out at night, look up and take a few seconds to absorb what you see (hopefully, there’s no light pollution) – think about the number of stars and planets out there. Then think about “where you are” and “why you’re here?”
